What a fantastic week for music at Sacred Heart!
We had a busy week in the music department this week with our two annual Spring Concerts on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th May from 5-6pm in the hall. Year groups are now mixed in both concerts and there was some outstanding talent on display. Congratulations to all our performers!
We heard solo and duet performances on the saxophone, clarinet, flute, trombone, trumpet, voice, violin, piano, recorder and guitar. Playing with our friends is probably the best part of learning an instrument, and as such, we also heard ensemble (group playing) performances from the String Group and the Recorder Ensemble.
We were also thoroughly entertained by our Y6 rock band, The Pencil Leads, who performed Yellow, by the rock band, Coldplay. We are exceptionally proud of the talent and progress that our musicians have made since our last concert in the Autumn.
Learning an instrument is a marathon, not a sprint, and perseverance is the name of the game. “Little and often” is the mantra, children. Keep at it, and you will reap the rewards. Thank you to our brilliant and hardworking peripatetic music teachers who go above and beyond to bring music to as many children as possible at Sacred Heart. If you are interested in your child taking music lessons at school, please contact our head of music, Mrs Wibberley, to discuss. She is always keen to help.
